Despite the criticalities related to the use of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies are getting ready to become an official payment method. This phenomenon is also accelerated by the increase in e-commerce usage, which is currently growing given the physical limitations imposed by the pandemic.

A substantial part of future wealth will be made up of virtual currencies, which will become part of families’ assets. An issue also addressed by the OECD in its October 2020 Report, “Taxing Virtual Currencies: An Overview of Tax Treatments and Emerging Tax Policy Issues”.
