Opportunities for Italian companies in Scandinavia

8 November 2022 | Events

Francesco Marconi, partner, and coordinator of Andersen’s International Tax Division, an expert in SME consulting, transfer pricing, and due diligence, will be the speaker at the course entitled Doing business up north: opportunities for Italian companies in Scandinavia. The webinar, which will analyze the potential of the northern European market, is organized by the Business School of Banca Popolare di Sondrio and Columdae, an agency that supports the internationalization of companies.

The meeting targeted professionals who wish to be more aware of professional opportunities in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway, paying attention to the region’s tax and legal regulations and business culture. This area is attractive for imports, as many brands highly resalable in the rest of Europe are based there, especially in technology. At the same time, this implies a strong demand for machinery and industrial components, raw materials, and semi-finished products from these countries. Exports of consumer products also meet fertile ground due to the high purchasing power of the region’s inhabitants, who are well disposed of, especially toward the food industry, design, and clothing made in Itlay.

It is better to enter this market through a Scandinavian link person, which, together with a direct, transparent, and results-oriented approach will help to earn the trust of one’s interlocutors right away. Professionals in the region are, for the most part, not very open to small talk, punctual and meritocracy-minded, which leads to young people holding senior positions more often than in Italy. Despite the opportunities for growth that cooperation with entities in northern European territories offers, this is still an unusual path for Italian companies.
