Tax incentives for audiovisual productions: Andersen workshop for AGICI

On December 7, 2019, the Tax incentives to European audiovisual works conference is held in Como, organized by the European Media service line of Andersen.

In fact, experts from Spain, France, Hungary, Germany, UK, and Italy take part in the eighth edition of MICI19 (International Meeting of Independent Cinema) – a three-day happening with conferences, market opportunities, and workshops – working alongside production companies AGICI (General Association of Independent Cine-Audiovisual Industries). The event takes place inside the Noir festival, in the prestigious Villa Olmo in Como (6-8 December).

On the second day of the event, Patricia Motilla (partner and tax expert for Andersen in Spain), Pierre Bouley (France), Daniel Kai Fischer (Germany), Karoly Radnai (Hungary), George McCracken (UK) and Ciro Serio (Italy) will talk of the tax credit in the various countries in a practical workshop aimed at stimulating the audience in the request for the tax credit.

During the seminar, the BTF Media case study will also be presented, with the intervention of Antonio Monfort Riera who will tell about his experience.

The lawyer Ciro Serio, an Italian member of the European Media department of Andersen, declares: “Our working group is developing more and more experience in identifying the tax opportunities offered in the different legislations. There are many European countries that try to attract films and TV series productions because the induced sector is significant and has positive implications for job growth”.

The resources of the Film and Audiovisual Fund for 2019 are 404 million euros. Slightly increasing the 400 million euros offered last year. Productions are more and more frequent. Of these, the budget for tax incentives is 233 million euros, distributed as follows: €156 million for tax credit production, 5 million euros for distribution, €15 million for companies in the film industry, €23 million for tax credit in favor of cinema exhibitors to boost the offer, €30 million to attract film and audiovisual investments in Italy, €4 million for the tax credit for businesses not belonging to the field.
