Marco Giorgi co-authored the first organic text on Japanese Law in Italian language

12 March 2021 | Press

Giorgi authored the two chapters on Commercial Law and Financial Market Law. He is a member of associations such as the European Association for Japanese Studies (EAJS), the Italian Association for Japanese Studies (AISTUGIA) and the Italian-Japanese Association for Comparative Law (AIGDC).

Marco Giorgi, equity partner Andersen in Italy, an expert in comparative corporate law and Japanese law, is co-author of the book Introduction to Japanese Law, published by Giappichelli: the first organic text on the study of Japanese law in the Italian language. The editing was possible thanks to the contribution of Italian and Japanese academics.

Marco – also a member of the European Association for Japanese Studies (EAJS), the Italian Association for Japanese Studies (AISTUGIA), and the Italian-Japanese Association for Comparative Law (AIGDC) – contributed to the publication with two chapters on Commercial Law and Financial Market Law.

The book fills the gap in the Italian publishing landscape with an exhaustive analysis of the law of the Rising Sun, whose doctrine has been strongly influenced by both civil law systems and common law models, mainly the U.S.. The hybrid nature of the Japanese legal system often poses critical interpretation problems for the Italian jurist. The publication Introduction to Japanese Law aims precisely to overcome the language barrier and introduce readers to the complex legal system of Japan.

Author of other publications on corporate law, financial markets law and Japanese corporate law and contributor to some on-line law magazines (such as FC Hub and Diritto Bancario), Marco Giorgi offers legal assistance to Italian companies for internationalization in Japan and cross-border M&A transactions.

Marco has a Ph.D. in Comparative Corporate Law with a thesis on Japanese corporate governance, for which he was awarded the “Giuscommercialisti in Erba” prize by the Association of Italian Business Law Professors. He has also been a visiting scholar at Keio University in Tokyo.
