Dismissal regulations in Europe compared by Andersen’s Labor Employment

5 May 2021 | Events

Professionals from the European working team Labor Employment, including Francesca Capoferri and Matteo Amici, have compiled a guide on the dismissal regulations currently effective in the EU.

In recent years, the European Union has introduced several regulations aimed at standardizing dismissal statutes in European countries. Nevertheless, each country still follows different guidelines.

Therefore, the “Dismissal Guide” aims to provide a clear overview of the different regulations in the 21 countries covered.

The guide is structured with a report for each country containing:

  • Dismissal regulations
  • Formal requirements to be fulfilled
  • Participation of employee representatives and authorities

We invite you to read the full guide in the link below. Our professionals are available for any clarification.

EMPLOYMENT WEBINAR | Covid-related restrictions for employment termination across Europe

Due to the global spread of Covid-19, there is some specific legislation in some jurisdictions restricting the employer’s right to terminate individual employees or restrict mass layoffs.

In the absence of uniform rules, employers who employ workers in different European countries live with the constant risk of violating country-specific regulations. In order to have a more detailed knowledge of the restrictions or limitations that may exist in the different European countries, the European Employment Group of Andersen will host a webinar on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 and Francesca Capoferri, an Italian partner, will join as speaker.

The following questions will be covered:

  1. Termination restrictions under Covid-19 motivated legislations
  2. Termination possibilities during and after state-subsidized short-time work
  3. Other termination restrictions linked to state subsidies or aids
  4. Consequences for violating these restrictions.

This event will provide a general overview of these and other issues of maximum interest in relation to Covid-related restrictions for employment termination in Europe.
