Supply Chain and the Proximity Economy. Relocation and efficiency of production cycles in a complex geopolitical scenario.

9 November 2022 | Events

On Wednesday, November 23, Andersen, in collaboration with the Giornale di Brescia and with the sponsorship of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy is organizing a panel discussion entitled Supply Chain and the Proximity Economy. Relocalization and efficiency of production cycles in a complex geopolitical scenario. The factors that have changed the supply chain in the last period will be analyzed during the meeting: from global supply chains that are increasingly interdependent and more subject to external shocks (such as pandemics, rigid labor markets, and container shortages) to geopolitical tensions among trading partners.

Moderator Roberto Ragazzi, economics editor of the Brescia Newspaper, and speakers Giuseppe Bertoli, full professor of the University of Brescia’s “International Business and Markets” course, and Andersen partners Francesca Capoferri and Francesco Marconi, will talk about the disruptions brought by Covid-19 and subsequent economic shocks to supply chains around the world, which are still subject to uncertainty due to rising fuel prices, rising shipping costs and global pandemic blockades.

The reshoring trend, embraced by many companies as a a reversal of the decades-long propensity to offshoring production, will be analyzed. It is a response to domestic supply chains disrupted by the scarcity of foreign suppliers and all the factors listed above. In addition, the issues of employee mobility and attention to supply chain sustainability, which accompanies supply chain reorganization encouraged by subsidies, tax breaks, loan guarantee programs, and funding for innovation, research, and development, will be addressed.

The business case of Metal Work will be presented during the panel, thanks to the participation of Daniele Marconi, managing director of this company specializing in the production of pneumatic components for industrial automation, founded in 1967.
