Andersen supports GeMS on the acquisition of storielibere.fm

Gruppo editoriale Mauri Spagnol (GeMS) has been assisted by a team of tax and legal experts and advisors from Andersen, led by Andrea De Vecchi and Francesco Inturri, in the acquisition of 30% of Storielibere Srl, publishing platform of author podcasts.

Andersen took care of the initial analysis of the start-up’s business plan, verifying the sustainability of the business plan and preparing an accounting, legal and financial due diligence; it then followed all the contractual issues and the definition of the new governance structure.

The podcast market is always growing. Nielsen data for USOP, United States of Podcast, indicate that in 2020 13.9 million Italians listened to at least one podcast: a +15% compared to 2019 and also a growth in the number of minutes of listening. Research carried out by Aie-Associazione Italiana Editori shows that podcasts are listened to by 70% of young people (18/34 years old).

 

GeMS, named after the two founders of the Longanesi Group, is the second largest Italian publishing group and was established in 2005 as a result of the agreement between two large families of publishers. Today it brings together 20 publishing houses which together have over 1,100 years of history.

Podcasts are not seen as competitors to books: on the contrary, listening to certain content drives bookstore purchases. In fact, 69% of those interviewed in the Aie survey look for and buy books on the subject they are listening to.

The firm Gattai, Minoli, Partners – with a team composed of counsel Damiano Battaglia and associate Filippo Speroni – assisted Podfcatory Srl and the managers of Storielibere Srl for the contractual aspects of the operation.
